Success is often rooted in our daily habits and routines. Whether you realize it or not, you’ve already got habits in place, but the difference between high achievers and everyone else lies in what those habits are. Are they supporting your growth, or holding you back? Let’s dive into some essential habits that have not only shaped my success but could also transform your path if you commit to them.

Cultivate A Lifelong Passion For Learning And Implementation
One habit that has shaped my career, and why I started my company, is my insatiable thirst for learning. Early on, I threw myself into understanding sales and marketing, studying the greats like Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, and of course, Dan Kennedy, who taught me direct response marketing. The best leaders are relentless learners, always looking for ways to refine their skills.
But here’s the crucial part: learning without implementation is a waste. You can show off a stack of business books, but if you haven’t acted on those ideas, you’re no further ahead. Personally, I’d rather spend a year deeply implementing one powerful book than read twenty cover-to-cover with no action. Implement what you learn, follow through and put those ideas to work.
Drive Projects To Completion, Not “Almost Done”
Getting things done and holding yourself and your team accountable to real deadlines is critical. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to drive projects to completion. I don’t want to hear, “I’m working on it” – I want to hear, “It’s done.” Aim for completion, not endless progress.
This standard applies to everyone in your business, from the newest hire to the top executives. When I ask a team member for an update, I expect to hear specifics: what’s completed and what’s next. This discipline of delivering results, not excuses, will set you head and shoulders above most others in the industry.
Surround Yourself With People Who Lift You Up
Early in my career, I learned some hard lessons about people. Some employees, clients or partners can be downright toxic – dishonest, negative or simply not aligned with your values. And these people can drag you down faster than almost anything else.
Imagine pouring yourself into a client relationship, going above and beyond to serve them and then finding out they’re bad-mouthing you in a public forum. Or working with an employee you’ve mentored, only to have them betray your trust. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life or your business. Surround yourself with people who give you energy, not those who drain it.
When you’re around team members who are positive, solutions-focused and genuinely aligned with your goals, it lifts you up. My executive team, for instance, inspires me every day. They’re people I want to spend time with, especially during challenging times. Choose to be around people who encourage, support and drive you forward.
Choose Clients And Partners Wisely
Your clients, vendors and partners should share your values and respect your work. If they don’t, it will eventually come back to bite you. This isn’t just about finding people who can pay the bills – it’s about working with those who respect your time, value your expertise and are committed to a mutually beneficial relationship.
Building Success Through Intentional Habits
Success isn’t an accident. It’s the result of consistent, daily actions rooted in your values. Make a habit of learning, implementing and surrounding yourself with the right people, and you’ll see your business – and your personal satisfaction – reach new heights. Remember, you don’t just want to be good at what you do; you want to create an environment where you and your team thrive. If you focus on these habits, the success you’re after will follow.
